Governor Umaru Bago has congratulated Mr. Abu Nmodu, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Niger Council, along with other officials, on their reelection to lead the union. The governor’s message was conveyed through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, in a statement issued on Sunday in Minna.
Bago praised the reelection of Nmodu and his team, highlighting that it reflects their exceptional teamwork and shared vision for the continued growth and development of the union. He noted the significant progress and achievements made during Nmodu’s first tenure.
The governor urged the newly reelected officials to intensify their efforts in serving the union’s members, emphasizing the importance of consolidating their gains and taking steps to eliminate quackery in journalism, which would help combat the spread of fake news.
Bago also reminded the union’s leadership and members of their crucial role in society, stressing the need for objectivity in their reporting. He emphasized that they are key stakeholders in his administration’s ‘New Niger Agenda.’
Governor Bago reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for the union’s leadership and members, promising to strengthen the already existing cordial relationship between the state government and the union for more mutually beneficial outcomes.
