On Sunday, 273 Army officers commenced a week-long Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSCQE) at the Jaji Military Cantonment in Kaduna State. The examination, conducted by the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army, is a crucial step for officers aspiring to attend the Senior Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji and other Staff Colleges abroad.
Maj.-Gen. Kelvin Aligbe, President of the Examination Board and Commander of TRADOC, emphasized the importance of this qualification. He noted that while many candidates are taking the exam for the first time, some are attempting it for the second or third time. Aligbe reassured candidates that success is achievable through diligent preparation, without resorting to fraudulent methods.
Aligbe highlighted that the examination was meticulously prepared by a team of experts, ensuring that the requirements are fair and achievable for dedicated candidates. He stressed that performance in the exam is critical for career progression within the Nigerian Army and urged candidates to approach it with seriousness and determination.
In his address, Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, Commander of the Infantry Corps, underscored the examination’s significance for advancing officers to a higher cadre within the Army. He encouraged candidates to excel, maintain integrity, and adhere to the highest standards of discipline.
Both Aligbe and Oluyede expressed confidence in the candidates’ preparation and reiterated their commitment to fair and thorough evaluation. They wished the officers success and urged them to leverage their training and experience to achieve the best results.
