The Emir of Ningi in Bauchi State, Yunusa Danyaya, passed away on Sunday morning after a protracted illness at a hospital in Kano.
Alhaji Usman Sule, Secretary to the Ningi Emirate Council, confirmed the emir’s death in a statement, noting that he died at the Expert Alliance Hospital in Kano, just two days after returning from a medical trip to Mecca on August 22.
Sule announced that the funeral prayer for the late emir would be held at the Emir’s palace in Ningi at 4:00 pm.
Yunusa Danyaya, who was born in 1936 in Ningi, was installed as a first-class traditional ruler in Bauchi State in 1978. His reign saw significant social and economic development within the emirate.
Danyaya’s early education included Ningi Elementary School (1941-1946), Bauchi Middle School (1946-1951), the School of Hygiene in Kano (1951), and a course in Public Administration at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (1956-1957).
