The Federal Ministry of Education has officially announced the cessation of paper usage in its official activities and communications, marking a significant step towards digital transformation.
Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, made the announcement during the 68th National Council on Education (NCE) meeting in Abuja on Thursday. The meeting, themed “Innovation, Digital Technology and Entrepreneurship: Tools for Educational and National Development in the 21st Century,” served as a platform to unveil the Ministry’s new digital communication portal.
Prof. Mamman emphasized that the Ministry is embracing technological advancements, stating, “The world has gone digital, and the Ministry will not be left behind in leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, productivity, and service delivery to Nigerians.”
In his remarks, Nasir Sani Gwarzo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, expressed his satisfaction with the digitalization efforts. “When I resumed at the Ministry a few months ago, I was impressed to see that most activities are conducted through digital platforms. In fact, the Federal Ministry of Education seems to be the most digitalized Ministry I have been to,” Gwarzo said.
He commended the efforts of his predecessor, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, and other former Permanent Secretaries for laying the foundation for digitalization and pledged to continue improving the Ministry’s efficiency.
