General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), underscored the significance of sacrifice and courage as foundational principles within the professional ethos of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) in his Easter Message delivered in Abuja on Friday.
Expressing gratitude to God for the opportunity to gather and celebrate Easter, General Musa highlighted the solemnity of the occasion, symbolized by Jesus Christ’s ultimate sacrifice, which serves as a profound example of selflessness and the importance of sacrifice, both on an individual and collective level.
“In the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), sacrifice and courage form the bedrock of our professional calling. We willingly lay down our lives in service to our nation, especially during challenging times when unified support is crucial in addressing security challenges,” General Musa stated.
Despite the nation’s ongoing challenges, he emphasized that the message of Easter instills hope. Drawing parallels between darkness yielding to light, he urged steadfastness in overcoming obstacles and striving for a brighter future.
General Musa called upon all members of the armed forces to embody the spirit of hope, courage, and resilience, praising their dedication and unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria.
He pledged to foster an armed forces that honors the sacrifices of fallen heroes, paying tribute to those who had made the ultimate sacrifice, including those recently lost during a peace mission in Delta State.
“Let us join in prayer for the souls of our fallen heroes and for strength for their bereaved families. Their sacrifices shall forever be remembered, and their legacies cherished,” General Musa remarked.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, for his leadership and steadfast support, particularly in the wake of recent tragic losses.
