Olusegun Peters, National Chairman of the Allied Conservative Congress (ACC), has called on President Bola Tinubu to subsidize food costs in response to the economic difficulties facing the country. Peters made the appeal in a statement issued on Sunday, emphasizing the need for palliatives and social amenities to enhance living standards and stimulate economic growth.
Peters also encouraged Nigerians to prepare for the 2027 general elections, urging them to vote out ineffective leaders. He stressed that the nation requires competent, reliable, and experienced leaders to navigate its challenges.
“The Allied Conservative Congress (ACC), committed to a better and prosperous Nigeria under a conservative ideology, will open its presidential ticket to qualified, visionary, and patriotic citizens from all six geopolitical zones. The presidential primary will decide the candidate, with no zoning of the ticket,” Peters stated.
He highlighted ACC’s efforts to build a robust national presence and mobilize citizens, asserting that the party is dedicated to restoring trust in government and guiding the country towards progress and development.
Peters criticized the current state of the nation, describing it as a crossroads in its democratic journey with widespread confusion, hunger, and dissatisfaction. He urged President Tinubu to urgently address these issues by subsidizing food costs and improving social amenities.
“To address these challenges, the President should prioritize experienced Nigerians for key positions, transcending political and ethnic biases,” Peters added. “The nation’s youth, who are increasingly vocal about their frustrations, should prepare to use their votes effectively in 2027.”
Peters concluded by reaffirming ACC’s commitment to supporting Nigerians in restoring the country’s prosperity and ensuring effective leadership.
