The Acting Managing Director of Kano State-owned ARTV, Hauwa Isa Ibrahim, has proposed the adoption of sophisticated technologies to advance broadcasting in Nigeria. This announcement came after she presented new equipment and modern tools to the station’s engineering and other departments.
Hauwa emphasized the need for Nigeria to transition from analogue to digital broadcasting, highlighting that the nation cannot continue using outdated technologies while other countries have moved forward. She asserted that ARTV would soon become a significant player in the industry by embracing modern technology.
Reflecting on the station’s history, Hauwa noted that ARTV was once the pride of Kano State and the entire northern region, particularly in broadcasting, entertainment, news, and the preservation of Kano’s rich cultural heritage.
“The equipment and tools you received today are part of our first phase of intervention, driven by the desire to revive and reposition this great station in line with the vision of the people’s Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf,” she said. “We urge you to use these tools effectively, ensure periodic maintenance, and help keep the station afloat. This will enable other departments to function efficiently and provide quality services and programs to our teeming viewers.”
In response, Engr. Abubakar Maccido, a deputy director in the engineering department, expressed gratitude to the Acting Managing Director for her dedication to transforming ARTV. He acknowledged the need to upgrade and replace outdated facilities and promised to work with his team to ensure the station’s rapid transformation and optimal use of the new equipment.
Since assuming office a few months ago, Hauwa Isa Ibrahim has initiated significant improvements to the station’s structures, content, and program quality to align with modern broadcasting trends. She also announced that the next phase of her reforms would focus on the programs department, other sections, and staff welfare.
