Security operatives of the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards (BSCVG) have arrested three suspected kidnappers in Otukpo Local Government Area (LGA), the State Police Command has confirmed.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Catherine Anene confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Makurdi on Tuesday, stating that the suspects were apprehended after collecting ransom and preparing to leave for Makurdi, the state capital.
According to sources, the suspects were intercepted at a motor park while attempting to board a vehicle to Makurdi. They were found with money believed to be ransom and handed over to the police in Otukpo for further investigation.
Anene also mentioned a recent incident involving a Benue Links bus, which was attacked along the Otukpo-Otukpa road on Thursday, June 13, 2024. The driver was reportedly shot dead, and the arrested suspects are believed to be linked to this robbery.
