Calabar was thrown into chaos today as a police officer, reportedly either mentally unstable or under the influence, went on a shooting spree at Watt-Atakpa, leaving 0ne person dead and three injured. The shocking incident, which occurred in broad daylight, sent residents running for safety as gunshots echoed through the streets.
Eyewitnesses say the officer, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, began firing indiscriminately, hitting innocent bystanders. Panic quickly spread, with traders and commuters scrambling for cover. The reason behind the officer’s actions remains unclear, but there are growing concerns about the mental health and conduct of security personnel.
Authorities have since arrived at the scene, and an investigation is reportedly underway. The tragic loss of lives has sparked outrage among residents, with calls for justice and stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
