Alhaji Ahmed Ali Ahmed, the Borno State Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Planning, has passed away. According to reports from workers at the Musa Usman State Secretariat in Maiduguri, Ahmed died just hours after arriving at his office on Monday morning.
Ahmed reportedly greeted staff and other individuals before leaving the office barely an hour later, sources stated. Prior to his appointment by Governor Babagana Zulum in August 2023, Ahmed had a career as a banker with Zenith Bank.
As of now, the government has not yet released an official statement confirming his death.
His passing comes less than a year after the death of another commissioner responsible for the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement (RRR).
