On Saturday, airport users were astonished as Olamide Alli and Abiodun Agboola exchanged their wedding vows at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal II (MMA2), operated by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Ltd. (BASL).
Pathwaynews reports that the departure area’s barricaded section accommodated about 50 guests for the unique ceremony.
Mr. Kola Bamigboye, Chief Operating Officer of BASL, told pathwaynews that the wedding, a first at the airport, was intended to showcase MMA2 as more than just a terminal. He expressed hope that this successful wedding would inspire more people to consider the airport as a wedding venue.
“We like to bring people together. Whether you are traveling through our terminal or coming here to solidify your love,” Bamigboye said.
Mrs. Monica Oguta, Head of Aviation Security for BASL, stated that the wedding created value for airport terminals. When asked if the couple were airport staff, Oguta replied, “They are just Nigerians who felt the idea is good. I started nursing the idea of an airport wedding some years back, and when the opportunity came, we seized it.”
Pathwaynews reports that the couple exchanged their vows and rings at the terminal, with Ms. Oluwabukunmi Aminu officiating as the vow coordinator. A passenger, Mrs. Abigail Babatunde, commented that she had never witnessed such a wedding before.
The couple was also given free flight tickets by Value Jet Airline.
