The Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Binta Nyako, has again turned down the prayer of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, for the restoration of the previous bail granted him.
Justice Nyako had granted Kanu bail a few years ago, but the IPOB leader left the country when, according to him, his life was threatened.
In her ruling on Monday, Justice Nyako said that Kanu jumped bail the last time and that those who stood for him as sureties had asked the court for discharge since they did not know Kanu’s whereabouts and had been so discharged.
The judge advised Kanu to proceed to the Court of Appeal, if not satisfied with her ruling. She said that the judgment of the Supreme Court did not, in any way, say that the IPOB leader’s earlier bail should not have been revoked, as claimed by the IPOB leader’s lead counsel.
