Defense Minister Muhammed Bello Matawalle has played a crucial role in enhancing security measures within Zamfara State, according to the Zamfara Progressive Development Forum (ZAPDEF). The group refuted claims circulating on an online platform, which accused Matawalle of distributing Ramadan palliatives to certain bandit groups in the region. Secretary General of ZAPDEF, Lawal Usman Magami, strongly denounced these allegations as baseless political maneuvers orchestrated by supporters of the current Governor, Dauda Lawal, labeling it as “dirty politics.”
ZAPDEF urged political stakeholders in the state to unite behind Minister Matawalle to collectively tackle the issue of insecurity rather than engaging in smear campaigns against him. The group criticized those behind the allegations, branding them as opportunistic political agents seeking short-term gains at the expense of Zamfara’s welfare.
Magami emphasized Matawalle’s significant contributions to addressing security challenges in Zamfara, citing his support for ongoing military operations aimed at combating insecurity in the state. The group highlighted Matawalle’s longstanding commitment to fostering political unity and cohesion, asserting that his leadership is grounded in a sense of duty rather than personal agendas.
ZAPDEF emphasized that Matawalle’s dedication to security matters remains unwavering, especially in his current role as Minister of State for Defense. They emphasized his reputation as a principled leader who prioritizes the well-being of Zamfara’s populace above all else.
