Hon. Bright Iyamu, representing Orhionmwon South Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), has clarified that he harbors no intentions of impeaching the Speaker, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku. Amidst the ongoing crisis, Iyamu reaffirmed his commitment to preserving the sanctity of the house and maintaining the peaceful atmosphere within.
Responding to his suspension by Speaker Agbebaku, Iyamu asserted, “I had no motive to call for the impeachment of the Speaker, nor did I intend to undermine the integrity of the house.” His primary focus remains on representing his constituency effectively and enacting laws beneficial to the people of Edo State.
Furthermore, Iyamu expressed unwavering support for Governor Godwin Obaseki’s commendable efforts in revitalizing the state. Despite the recent upheavals, he remains resolute in his dedication to advancing Obaseki’s vision of Making Edo Great Again (MEGA), dismissing distractions aimed at derailing his focus.
Addressing his supporters and constituents, Iyamu urged for calm in the face of provocations, assuring them that the issues surrounding his suspension would be resolved amicably. He assured that normalcy would soon return to the house.
The suspension of three lawmakers, including members from both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), came amidst allegations of a plot to alter the house leadership. As tensions simmer, Iyamu’s clarifications aim to reinforce the importance of unity and stability within the EDHA.
