Gospel music label EeZee Conceptz has responded to allegations of fraud and a contractual dispute involving its CEO, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu (EeZee Tee), and gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. The allegations include claims of misappropriating $345,000 in royalties and breaching trust in managing funds.
In an official statement, EeZee Conceptz denied the accusations, stating that Mercy Chinwo had earned over $625,000 under their 50/50 gross revenue-sharing agreement. The label added, “The agreement has been honored transparently, and all financial obligations to the artist have been fulfilled promptly.”
The label alleged that the dispute arose from Mercy Chinwo’s failure to fulfill her contractual obligations, including delivering a third studio album and withholding funds from events and royalties due to the label. Despite this, EeZee Conceptz claimed it made several attempts to resolve the matter amicably, which were ignored.
The label emphasized its sole financial investment in Mercy Chinwo’s career, including the production, promotion, and distribution of her music. “All funds, assets, and intellectual property tied to her music remain the property of EeZee Conceptz as per the contract,” the statement read.
In response to the allegations, the label called for transparency. “We invite the artist to publicly share her bank statements and production records before and during her time with EeZee Conceptz to verify the significant financial investment made in her career,” it said.
EeZee Conceptz also addressed claims of evading arrest by the EFCC, stating that its CEO had faced wrongful detention and extortion during a previous encounter with the commission. The label expressed concern about what it described as the misuse of institutional processes to escalate the dispute.
“We remain committed to the rule of law and trust that the legal system will ensure a fair resolution. The allegations of fraud are baseless and an attempt to undermine the years of investment, mentorship, and support provided to Mercy Chinwo,” the statement added.
