The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed claims that its official X (formerly Twitter) account was hacked. In a statement released on Thursday evening, the EFCC clarified that it encountered a technical glitch while updating its biography on the platform.
The commission confirmed that the issue has been reported to the X Support Team, and the restoration process is nearly complete.
“The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to some unsubstantiated claims in a section of the media suggesting that the official X account of the Commission has been hacked and hijacked by unknown individuals. The Commission wishes to categorically state that these claims are false and misleading,” the statement read.

The EFCC reassured stakeholders that the account had not been compromised and would soon be fully functional. The commission also reminded the public that all other verified channels of communication remain active for regular news and updates.
