The Institute of Educational Leadership Practitioners of Nigeria (IELPN) has emphasized that adopting modern teaching techniques, as opposed to traditional methods, will create a paradigm shift that significantly enhances the learning process. This was a key focus at the 2024 international conference of the IELPN, held on Wednesday in Abuja.
The Institute urged educational institutions across the country to embrace 21st-century innovative technologies to improve teaching and learning processes in schools.
In his keynote address, Professor Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education, encouraged institutions to move away from outdated lecture and handout methods. He stressed the importance of embracing new technological innovations to deliver effective and quality education to students at all levels. Professor Okwelle also urged teachers and lecturers to equip themselves with leadership skills and fully accept these innovations to utilize them effectively.
During the event, the President of IELPN, Professor Sunday Osaat, and the Registrar, Dr. Taiwo Olufunmilayo Olusa, highlighted the Institute’s collaborative efforts with other educational bodies to drive an educational revolution in Nigeria.
One of the event’s highlights was the induction of 24 new fellows into the Institute. Among the inductees, Dr. Badamosi Ayuba Targa, Dean of the School of Education at FCT College of Education, Zuba, reiterated the importance of using innovative methods to facilitate the learning process.
The theme for the 2024 IELPN international conference was “Revolutionising Education: Harnessing Innovative Pedagogies and Leadership for 21st Century Students.”
