The Coalition of Concerned Nigerian Citizens staged a protest in Osogbo, Osun State, on Thursday as part of the #EndBadGovernance movement.
Protesters gathered at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park and marched through key areas, including the popular Olaiya Junction, Ogo-Oluwa, and the state secretariat in Abere.
Ajala Adetunji, the State Coordinator of the coalition, announced that the protest would continue for ten days but might be reviewed in consideration of the upcoming Osun-Osogbo festival. He emphasized that the protest was driven by widespread hunger, poverty, and bad policies affecting Nigerians, particularly the youth.
“We are not here because of any political affiliation or for money. This protest is for the people and the community we belong to. The youth population, the largest in the country, is suffering the most. The office of the citizen is the highest office in the land,” Adetunji stated.
He called on President Tinubu to review current policies, highlighting the struggle with skyrocketing fuel prices and widespread hunger. Other speakers, including Comrade Wale Adebisi and Barrister Alfred Adegoke, also condemned bad governance and urged youths to prepare to take over the reins of government.
