The Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Igwe Samuel Asadu, has called on Muslims across Nigeria to use the celebration of Eid-el-Maulud, which marks the birthday of the Holy Prophet Mohammed, as an opportunity to pray for peace and unity in the country.
Speaking to newsmen in Nsukka on Monday, Asadu emphasized that peace and unity are essential for overcoming the nation’s current challenges. “With peace and unity, we will surmount the present economic hardship and security challenges in the country,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to work together, regardless of language, tribe, religion, or political affiliation, to move the country forward. HRM Igwe Samuel Asadu, who is also the Traditional Ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugu Community in Nsukka Local Government Area, praised the virtues of the Holy Prophet Mohammed, noting that he dedicated his life to promoting love, peace, unity, and forgiveness.
“We should all emulate the good and exemplary life of the Holy Prophet Mohammed in all we do in order to move our country forward. His birthday is celebrated globally each year because of the immense positive impact he had on humanity,” Asadu stated.
In addition to celebrating Eid-el-Maulud, the Enugu State Traditional Rulers extended their heartfelt condolences to the victims of the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State, which claimed lives, displaced thousands, and caused billions of naira in property damage.
“We express our heartfelt condolences to the families who lost loved ones and sympathize with the displaced residents whose properties were destroyed by the flood,” he added.
