Mikel Oyarzabal scored a decisive late goal, sealing Spain’s 2-1 triumph over England in the Euro 2024 Final at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on Sunday.
Oyarzabal, coming off the bench, netted the winning goal, earning Spain a record fourth European Championship and their first since 2012.
The first half in Berlin was tightly contested, with neither side managing to break the deadlock. However, Spain ramped up their intensity in the second half.
A brilliant infield move by 17-year-old Lamine Yamal, followed by a precise cross to left-winger Nico Williams, resulted in the opening goal. Williams calmly slotted the ball past Jordan Pickford into the bottom corner, putting Spain ahead.
In the 70th minute, England brought on Cole Palmer for Kobbie Mainoo. Just three minutes later, Palmer combined effectively with Jude Bellingham to score the equalizer for England.
The decisive moment came from another substitute, this time for Spain. Oyarzabal capitalized on a low cross from Marc Cucurella, slotting the ball home to secure Spain’s victory and the European Championship title.
