The FCT Minister of State, Hajia Mariya Mahmoud, has expressed her commitment to supporting the JAV Christmas Village, aiming to establish it as a premier family-oriented yuletide attraction in Abuja.
In an interview with Pathwaynews during the event to kick off preparations for the 2024 JAV Christmas Village, held on Thursday in Abuja, the Minister highlighted the event’s growing significance. The Christmas Village, renowned for its iconic light tree unveiling, has become a flagship end-of-year celebration in the FCT and warrants substantial support.
“I am here because JAV Christmas Village aligns with our social development initiatives,” said Hajia Mahmoud. “This event, part of the Green Hope Agenda, aims to unite the community and support talented youths, fostering socio-economic growth and boosting revenue generation for the FCT.”

She added, “Our goal is to make JAV Village a reality by December. I congratulate the team for their dedication and hard work.”
Mrs. Jennifer Fatorisa, Co-founder and Director of JAV Christmas Village, shared the ambitious goal of transforming the village into Africa’s top end-of-year tourist destination. “This year, we will unveil Africa’s tallest Christmas light tree as part of our 2024 celebrations,” she said. “We expect visitors from around the globe to experience this unique event. The lights-up ceremony is scheduled for December 7, and the festivities will continue until January 5 at the Abuja Continental Hotel.”
Princess Ajanah Atika, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Events, praised the organizers and emphasized the administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the creative and tourism sectors. She noted that the installation of the tallest Christmas light tree would be a significant milestone for tourism in the region.
The event was attended by stakeholders from the creative and entertainment sectors, top government officials, and members of the diplomatic community. The highlight was the official flag-off of the 2024 JAV Christmas Village by the FCT Minister of State.
