The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected car thief who allegedly stole a vehicle at gunpoint along the Kuje-Airport road on May 2, 2024. The suspect, now in police custody, reportedly snatched a Toyota Corolla with registration number ABC 258 LD and altered the number to AGD 146 JP in an attempt to evade arrest.
According to the FCT Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the stolen vehicle was recovered at a guest inn in Jabi, where it was found in the possession of one Michael Uke. Uke had replaced the car’s original registration number with a different one to avoid detection.
Adeh stated, “On August 17, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m., operatives of the FCT Police, in response to a reported sighting of the Toyota Corolla snatched at gunpoint on May 2, 2024, along Kuje-Airport road, successfully tracked the vehicle using digital reconstruction intelligence. The vehicle was found at Ifego Guest Inn in Jabi, in the possession of one Michael Uke. The suspect had replaced the original registration number with REG NO: AGD 146 JP. During the search, the police discovered a POS machine, a knife, glass-dissolving chemicals, a military jungle hat, and the vehicle’s original registration number in Uke’s possession.”
