The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued three individuals from a collapsed building in Abuja. The building, located at Unity House, Area 11 by Nkwere Street, Garki, collapsed at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Monday night.
Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh stated that the command promptly alerted the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria and FCT Development Control, whose personnel quickly mobilized to the scene to assist in rescuing those trapped in the building.
The statement provided to Daily Sun reads: “In response to the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, promptly moved to the scene with multiple patrol teams as first responders to cordon off the area for possible rescue. Three victims were successfully evacuated from the collapsed building and rushed to the hospital for medical care.
“The attention of the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria and FCT Development Control has been drawn to the situation, and their personnel have taken charge of the area for robust management of the scene.
“Further developments will be appropriately communicated in due course.”
