A fire broke out at an LG office in Lagos on Sunday, destroying goods and electronics valued at millions of naira. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident in a statement.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, reported that the fire occurred at the LG office in Abule Osun, Trade Fair, Lagos.
“LASEMA received distress calls through the 767 and 112 toll-free emergency lines around 12:15 a.m. and immediately activated the Lagos State Emergency Response Plans,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.
Upon arrival at the scene around 12:40 a.m., responders found that the fire had engulfed the entire warehouse, damaging equipment, small forklifts, household goods, and electronics worth hundreds of millions of naira.
While the cause of the fire remains unknown, Oke-Osanyintolu mentioned that LASEMA is working alongside the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to prevent further spread. Additional fire trucks and appliances have been deployed to aid in the operation.
“There have been no reported fatalities or injuries, but the fire has spread throughout the entire premises,” he added.
The operation is ongoing, with all responders and LG staff relocated for safety. The Nigerian Army and Police are also present at the scene.
