Senator Yunus Akintunde, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, has praised the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) under the leadership of Dr. Zacch Adedeji for its remarkable performance in revenue generation over the past year. The Senator commended Adedeji’s efforts in supporting the country’s infrastructure development and education reform.
In a statement personally signed and addressed to Adedeji, Akintunde highlighted the FIRS Chairman’s achievements since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu one year ago. He noted Adedeji’s exceptional work ethic and success, despite operating in challenging circumstances.
Akintunde, who was elected to the Senate in 2023 under the All Progressives Congress (APC), acknowledged Adedeji as a fellow constituent of Oyo Central. Both had served in key roles during the first term of the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, former governor of Oyo State.
“President Bola Tinubu would be proud of your tremendous contributions to the economic development of the country,” Akintunde remarked. “In the last year, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has achieved significant milestones, surpassing revenue targets, restructuring the agency, and introducing innovative tax collection tools. Your leadership is a source of pride for our senatorial district and Oyo State.”

He further emphasized the critical role of FIRS in generating revenue to fund essential national projects, particularly as oil revenues have declined. “Dr. Zacch Adedeji has been instrumental in ensuring the country has the resources needed to invest in infrastructure, education, and healthcare,” Akintunde said.
Senator Akintunde concluded by expressing confidence in Adedeji’s ability to continue delivering positive results in the years to come, describing him as a role model and one of the standout leaders of the current administration.
