Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has inaugurated a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate recent arson, killings, and destruction of property at various Local Government Council Headquarters in the state. The seven-member commission, chaired by Justice Ibiwengi Roseline Minakiri, was inaugurated at the Government House in Port Harcourt and has one month to complete its task.
Governor Fubara condemned the recent attacks, likening them to the violence that plagued the state in the lead-up to the 2015 general elections. He vowed that no one involved, regardless of their status, would escape justice. The commission is tasked with identifying the root causes of the violence, assessing the damage, and making recommendations to prevent future incidents.
Fubara emphasized the need to restore law and order, urging the commission members to stay resolute despite potential threats. He also highlighted the importance of their work in ensuring lasting peace in Rivers State.
