Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has firmly stated that Rivers State remains under the control of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing speculation that he has left the party. Governor Fubara made this clear during a visit from the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) delegation, led by Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara, at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Addressing rumors of his departure from the PDP, Fubara expressed gratitude for the BoT’s visit, which he said reinforced his commitment to the party. “If I had any doubts about my membership in this great party, today’s visit has reconfirmed that I am still, despite the drama, a dedicated member of the PDP,” he affirmed.
Fubara also appreciated the presence of key party figures, including founding members, who joined the delegation to discuss the party’s unity in Rivers State. He emphasized that the visit aimed to address the issues that have caused dissatisfaction within the party and to assure PDP members in Rivers State that their decision to stand by the party is well-founded.

Senator Wabara, speaking on behalf of the BoT, explained that the visit was motivated by concerns over the recent tensions within the PDP in Rivers State. He highlighted the importance of maintaining unity within the party and commended Governor Fubara for his patience and commitment to the PDP amidst the ongoing crisis.
Following the meeting, Wabara expressed optimism that the political crisis in Rivers State would soon be resolved, noting that the BoT would continue its efforts to mediate and strengthen the party ahead of future elections. He reiterated that the BoT is determined to prevent a repeat of the setbacks the PDP faced in 2015 and 2023, emphasizing the need for unity and adherence to the rule of law within the party.
