Abuja residents are grappling with yet another round of fuel (Premium Motor Spirit) crisis as long queues stretch back to filling stations across the city.
The sudden resurgence of these queues, which reportedly began on Thursday evening, has sparked worries among both drivers and commuters.
The situation has been exacerbated by a significant increase in fuel prices, with reports indicating some stations selling petrol for as high as N850 per liter.
Adding to the chaos, black market sellers (hawkers) have reappeared on the streets, peddling the product for as much as N1,000 per liter and between N9,500 to N10,000 for 10 liters.
Pathway News observed that many filling stations along the Airport Road, Kubwa Expressway, Central Business District (CBD), and other parts of the city had extensive queues, with drivers scrambling to secure fuel.
For instance, Conoil and Total Energy in the CBD, AP in Maitama, and NIPCO along the Airport Road all witnessed lengthy queues stretching several yards.
Pathway News also noted large crowds of stranded commuters at various busy stations on Saturday morning, patiently awaiting transportation to their workplaces.
As motorists endure the frustration of hours-long waits to refuel their vehicles, concerns are mounting over the potential impact on transportation, businesses, and daily life in the city.
