Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has been confirmed as Gombe State Chief executive by the Supreme Court, which has ended the contention over the governorship election.
The Supreme Court in a judgment by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, declared the appeal filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jibrin Barde, as lacking in merit and therefore dismissed it.
Reacting to the judgment, Gov Yahaya, in a statement, by Ismaila Uba Misilli, expressed gratitude to God for “all the victories, from the polls through the Tribunal to the Supreme Court.”
The governor said that the decision of the Supreme Court was “not just a personal and party triumph, but also an affirmation of the will of the people of Gombe State who have queued up during the 2023 governorship poll to give us their mandate for an additional four years.”
