Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, on Sunday, swore in the newly elected chairmen of the 20 local government areas (LGAs) of the state. This comes after Saturday’s local government election conducted by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), in which the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won in all 20 LGAs.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Mohammed urged the new chairmen to focus on boosting revenue generation within their respective LGAs. He also noted that the councilors would be sworn in by the chairmen at the headquarters of the local governments.
The governor congratulated the PDP on its victory, stating that the election results reflect the people’s trust and confidence in the government. He highlighted the administration’s commitment to grassroots democracy, recalling that the last LG elections before their tenure were in 2008, and since then, the administration has successfully conducted two LG elections.
Governor Mohammed reminded the newly sworn-in chairmen to view their positions as an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities. He emphasized the importance of providing good governance at the grassroots level, urging collaboration with various stakeholders to positively impact the lives of the people.
