The House of Representatives has affirmed its commitment to enhancing efficiency in public service by reducing redundancy within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Ibrahim Isiaka, Chairman of the House Special Ad-hoc Committee on Restructuring of Federal Government Agencies and Commissions, emphasized the parliament’s dedication to ensuring a responsive government that meets the people’s needs.
Isiaka announced that the committee will undertake a thorough review of the Stephen Oronsaye Report and all relevant White Papers concerning the restructuring of federal government agencies, parastatals, and commissions.
He stated, “The Oronsaye Report, published in 2012, outlined recommendations to streamline and optimize government agency operations for increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness. It’s crucial for us to revisit these recommendations and other pertinent White Papers to align our government structures with current realities and best practices.”
“Our legislative approach aims to streamline operations, eliminate duplications, improve service delivery, and optimize resource allocation,” Isiaka added. “This comprehensive review will consider diverse perspectives and expertise to ensure effective governance.”
Isiaka highlighted the importance of adapting government agencies to meet evolving societal needs. “Through this review, we aim to identify redundancies, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement within federal government agencies and commissions,” he concluded.
