The National President of the Igbo group ‘Ogbako Ndigbo Nile’, Amb Azunna Akpelu, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the issues causing agitation in the country to give every ethnic group a sense of belonging.
Akpelu made the call at the weekend in Owerri, the Imo state capital, during the inauguration of Ogbako Ndigbo Nile. He stated, “The President should concentrate on those things that unite us, rather than those things that divide us. The President should avoid listening to sycophantic politicians and seriously address the issues that continue to create agitation in the country. We need a Nigeria that works for everyone. Peace can only be achieved when you give the carrot before the stick. We are all Nigerians and should not allow ethnic and tribal issues to divide us. Let’s all unite to build a country that works for all, and not one that talks about ethnicity.”
The group, he said, is created to unite all Ndigbo across the country for the development of Nigeria. “We shall work with our brothers and sisters from other parts of the country to build a Nigeria of our collective dreams.”
He also urged the President to address organizational corruption and the greed of political figures, stating, “these are the bane of Nigeria.”
Additionally, the National Chairman of the New Nigeria Movement from the Southwest and Secretary General of the Council of Yoruba Elders, Dr. Victor Taiwo, emphasized, “We need each other because no one tribe can do it alone. Let’s remove stereotypes of the past that have kept us down and move forward as a nation.”
