Waheed Ayilara, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, has passed away. He died early Thursday morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja.
According to sources close to the family, Ayilara underwent surgery for prostate cancer on Wednesday, but unfortunately, he succumbed to complications from the procedure just hours later.
In a statement to The Nation, a family member expressed deep sorrow over the loss, saying, “We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother, and family, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, is dead.”
The sudden passing of Commissioner Ayilara is a significant loss to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command and the broader community he served.
