The Kano State government has revised the curfew in the state, now set from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to an announcement made on Sunday by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Malam Baba Dantiye, during a broadcast in Kano.
The adjustment, he explained, aims to help restore normalcy in the state. The state government had initially imposed a 24-hour curfew across Kano as a safety measure during the ongoing nationwide protests.
In his statement, Dantiye conveyed Governor Abba Yusuf’s condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones and property during the protests, which had turned violent. He urged residents to return to their homes by 2 p.m., with assurances that the curfew would be further reviewed as the security situation improves.
Governor Yusuf also appealed to the people of Kano to continue praying for peace, progress, and political stability both in the state and across the nation.
The broadcast emphasized that the relaxation of the curfew marks a step towards restoring normalcy, while the state government will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of all residents.
