The Kano State Government has reallocated the Murtala Mohammed State Library to Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano (YUMSUK), following approval from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. This announcement was made in a statement on Wednesday by Abubakar Ibrahim, Head of the Public Relations Unit at YUMSUK.
The statement, issued on behalf of the university’s Registrar, described the reallocation as a strategic move aimed at enhancing the academic environment. It is expected to improve access to a wide range of resources for students and staff, supporting their educational and research needs.
On October 7, 2024, YUMSUK’s management, led by Vice Chancellor Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, along with the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, toured the facility to assess its resources and infrastructure.
The library, with its extensive collection and multi-floor layout, is set to become a vital hub for academic growth at the university, providing valuable educational materials to the university community, the statement concluded.
