A Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, has set July 2 for the hearing of all pending applications in the ongoing litigation brought by the Kano State government and the Kano House of Assembly against Aminu Ado Bayero and four other Emirs.
The case seeks to perpetually restrain Aminu Ado Bayero and the Emirs of Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye from parading themselves as Emirs of their respective emirates.
Previously, Justice Amina Aliyu granted an ex-parte order to serve all respondents with court processes through substituted means. At Monday’s hearing, counsel to Aminu Ado Bayero, Barrister Ibrahim Mukhtar, filed counter affidavits, challenging the competence of the court to hear and determine the case, seeking to set aside the ex-parte order, and contesting the decision to restrain the defendants from parading as Emirs.
Despite the readiness of the originating summons for hearing, the court, considering the urgency of the case, abridged the time for addressing all pending applications. Consequently, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu ordered that all defendants be served with a hearing notice and scheduled the hearing for July 2.
