Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has expressed his condolences to the Yauri Emirate and the family of Malam Usman Mai-Gadi, who was tragically killed by a hippopotamus in Tillo village, Yauri Local Government Area.
In his message, the governor urged the emirate and the bereaved family to accept the will of Almighty God with faith and fortitude. He offered prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
Malam Usman was laid to rest according to Islamic rites in Yauri, with the funeral prayer attended by the Chairman of Yauri Local Government Council, Hon. Abubakar Shu’aibu.
Reports indicate that the deceased, a security guard at Orchard Farms owned by the Emir of Yauri, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu-Abdullahi, was attacked by the hippopotamus while fishing. The animal, apparently perceiving a threat to its young, attacked Malam Usman in self-defense.
