Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, the First Lady of Kebbi State, has called for greater involvement of women in the state’s political landscape. She made this appeal while speaking to journalists after casting her vote at the Nagari Science College polling unit in Birnin Kebbi.
Zainab stressed that a truly representative democracy requires the diverse perspectives that both men and women bring to the table. “Our democracy must reflect the richness of perspective that both men and women would bring. When more women participate actively in politics, there will be more contributions to our societal development,” she stated.
She emphasized the need for intentional and deliberate efforts to encourage and support women in taking an active role in politics.
The First Lady also praised the significant voter turnout, particularly among women, during the local government elections. She commended the Kebbi State Electoral Commission (KESEC) for their successful conduct of smooth and peaceful council elections across the state.
