The leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kebbi State chapter, has expressed delight over the conferment of an Honorary Fellowship on Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, by Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi.
In a statement signed by the Council Chairman, Engr. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the NYCN described the honor as a recognition of Governor Idris’s extensive contributions to education in Kebbi State and Nigeria.
“We are not surprised that a reputable institution like Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic honored Governor Idris with the Honorary Fellowship. The track records of Governor Idris, when he was the NUT President and NLC Vice President, remain evergreen. Since he became the elected Governor of Kebbi State, the education sector has received a lot of attention, and many classrooms have been reconstructed,” Abubakar said.
“This honorary fellowship award will propel the Governor to dedicate more energy to the education sector in Kebbi State, which will benefit all Nigerians,” he added.
Abubakar expressed optimism that this latest honor would inspire the Governor to continue his selfless service to the people of Kebbi State, particularly in education and youth empowerment.
While congratulating the polytechnic for a successful convocation ceremony, the chairman also expressed gratitude to the institution’s management, led by Rector Dr. Usman Tunga, for recognizing Governor Idris’s efforts and deeming him worthy of this honor. He highlighted that the award is well-deserved and reflects the Governor’s commitment as a teacher and educationist.
