A hippopotamus suspected to be behind the killing of a fisherman and attacks of others has been neautrilised in Yauri local government area of Kebbi state.
A viral video seen by our correspondent showed that a crowd of people dragging the dead hippo attached to a canter vehicle with long rope was dragging on the ground amidst jubilations by the people.
It could be recalled that,the suspected Hippo has been a nightmare to people of the area especially fishermen who are plying their daily livelihood across the river Niger in the community.
A voice was heard in the video saying that the water animal used to be a very peaceful mammal but suddenly became wild due to child protection.

According to Alkasim Haruna Abarshi, the fisher man was fishing in the river when he was attacked by the wild hippo without any provocation, the victim is in a very critical condition at Yauri General hospital over the brutal unprovoked attack by the hippotamus.
Abarshi disclosed that, Honourable Abubakar Shuaibu Manager, the Executive Chairman, Yauri local government area of Kebbi state who visited the victim at the hospital sympathised with him and prayed for his quick recovery.
He said that, the Chairman described the victim’s condition as critical and he pledged to assist him in the best way he can.
The Chairman, according to him, admonished fisher men in the area to take precautions by studying the river areas before embarking on their fishing business.
