Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has pledged government support for the rebuilding of the GSM village in Kpata, Lokoja, after a devastating fire on Thursday. The governor made the commitment during an on-the-spot visit to assess the damage caused by the fire.
In a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isa, Governor Ododo expressed deep sympathy for the victims, describing the extent of the damage as troubling. He assured business owners and other affected individuals that the state government would work to restore their means of livelihood.
The governor highlighted the importance of the GSM village, which has provided a reliable and legitimate source of income for numerous youths and women in the state, significantly contributing to the local economy.
Ododo further assured the traders of immediate relief measures and announced that plans to rebuild the market and recover the lost properties would begin soon.
Traders and residents expressed gratitude for the governor’s visit and solidarity, stating that his presence renewed their determination to rebuild and strengthen the business community after the setback.
