On Thursday in Igbaja, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara emphasized the need for more appreciation of the sacrifices made by all security agencies, especially the Nigerian Army.
The governor made this call during the commissioning of a Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Centre, a special intervention project by the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lt.-Gen. T. A. Lagbaja. He commended both the Federal Government and the CoAS for establishing the CBT center, highlighting its potential to aid skills acquisition and boost the socio-economic growth of the area.
“This computer center means a lot for the socio-economic growth of this community. Not only does it nudge members of the community towards the acquisition of necessary skills for this age, it opens up new frontiers of socio-economic benefits for Igbaja and surrounding communities,” AbdulRazaq stated.
He also emphasized the importance of military-civil relations, saying, “Recent developments in our country suggest the need to deepen citizens’ appreciation of the sacrifices our security forces make to keep us safe, stabilize the fabric of our society, and ward off every threat against the Nigerian state. Over the last two decades, the military has played very important roles to support civilian authorities at all times, including when our country came under intense pressure from hostile non-state actors.”
The governor urged Nigerians to honor and appreciate the security forces deployed in internal operations and during emergencies, calling for an end to attacks on them.
Earlier, the CoAS, represented by Maj.-Gen. Obinna Onubogu, stated that the project’s execution affirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to its constitutional responsibilities through non-kinetic operations. He expressed gratitude to the governor and the people of Kwara for their continued support of the Nigerian Army’s operations.
