The Lagos State Taskforce has apprehended 28 notorious miscreants known as the “Omotaku” gang, notorious for extorting motorists in areas including Mile 2, Alaba Rago, Festac, and Apapa. According to Gbadeyan Abdulrahee, Director of Press & Public Affairs, these individuals have long terrorized drivers by demanding large sums when vehicles break down on the highways.
The agency’s chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, hailed the operation as a crucial step in protecting residents and motorists from the criminal activities that have plagued the area. He reaffirmed the taskforce’s commitment to ongoing mop-up operations to ensure safety and security throughout the metropolis.
“We will not rest until every member of the Omotaku gang is arrested and held accountable,” Akerele said, adding that all 28 suspects will be charged to court immediately.
The taskforce also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity through the ‘See Something, Say Something’ initiative, emphasizing the importance of public collaboration in maintaining a safe and peaceful environment.
