Mariam Bolaji of Nigeria advanced to the semi-finals in the para-badminton competition at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris early on Sunday. Bolaji secured her spot by defeating Mandeep Kaur of India with a decisive 21-8, 21-9 victory in their quarter-final match in the women’s singles SL3 event.
Bolaji is set to face Xiao Zuxian of China in the semi-finals later on Sunday afternoon, with a place in the final at stake.
Earlier in the tournament, Bolaji had also triumphed over Kaur during the group stage on Thursday, winning 21-8, 21-14 in a Group B match. She continued her strong performance on Friday, defeating Celine Vinot of Australia 21-8, 21-14 to top her group and advance to the quarter-finals.
