The Minister of Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has dismissed allegations that the government directed telecom providers to disrupt network services amid the ongoing national protests.
Concerns arose after reports of poor internet connectivity from MTN, Airtel, and other networks, leading to speculation that the government might have instructed telecom carriers to interfere with services to hinder the protests.
However, Tijani clarified during an interview on Channels TV that no such directive was issued. “There’s no instruction to tamper with [phone] networks,” he stated.
Additionally, the minister condemned the recent robbery at the National Communication Commission (NCC) facility in Kano State, noting that the incident would hinder the federal government’s efforts to foster youth employment through technology initiatives.
