The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced that its Special Forces successfully neutralized a notorious terrorist leader, Mustapha Abdullahi, and five of his operatives in the Igabi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information, shared that the NAF 413 Force Protection Group’s Special Forces encountered the terrorists during a clearance operation near Sabon Gida Forest, along Sabon Birni Road. The terrorists were reportedly en route to launch an attack, kidnap, or kill innocent villagers when they were intercepted by the troops.
Gabkwet stated that upon receiving intelligence on August 31, 2024, regarding the presence of the terrorist leader and his group near the Sabon Gida Forest, the Special Forces were promptly deployed. The terrorists, who were traveling on motorcycles, opened fire upon spotting the troops but were quickly overwhelmed by superior firepower, resulting in the elimination of all six terrorists.
The troops recovered several weapons from the scene, including five den guns, a locally fabricated sub-machine gun, live ammunition, assorted charms, lighters, SIM cards, and phone cases.
The NAF has reiterated its commitment to ridding Igabi, Birnin Gwari, and surrounding areas of criminal elements, with ongoing operations aimed at safeguarding lives and property. Troops have been commended for their efforts and urged to continue their vigilance.
