A 38-year-old man, Gabriel Iliya Magaji, from Masaka in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, allegedly took his own life following suspicions of his wife’s infidelity. The tragic incident was confirmed by the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nansel Ramhan, who spoke to The pathwaynews
According to DSP Ramhan, a report was filed at the Masaka Police Division on Monday morning by a staff member of Crystal School Masaka, stating that a man was found hanging in one of the classrooms. Police officers quickly arrived at the scene, removed the body, and transported it to General Hospital, Mararaba, where a doctor confirmed the death. The body was then deposited in the morgue.
While no suicide note was found, DSP Ramhan stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death. He did not confirm allegations that Magaji’s death was linked to the discovery of his wife’s infidelity, saying, “I cannot confirm the allegation until investigations are concluded.”
Speculation has spread on social media, with one Facebook post claiming that Magaji took his life after confronting his wife, who allegedly admitted to sleeping with his friends for money to support the family. The post further alleged that the wife used the money to buy food for Magaji and their three children.
The incident has left the Masaka community in shock, as residents express disbelief over the circumstances surrounding Magaji’s death.
