The widely anticipated national hardship protest did not take place in Abia State, as residents chose to stay home.
In Umuahia, the state capital, the atmosphere remained calm, with only a few people venturing out, moving freely around the city. Security personnel were stationed in large numbers at strategic locations, while many public offices remained closed.
Markets and numerous shops were also shut down, and vehicular movement was minimal. Reports from Aba, the state’s commercial hub, indicated a similar situation, with banks, markets, and other public institutions closed, and residents opting to stay home without engaging in any form of protest.
