A vacuum has been created in the leadership of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) with the resignation of its Director General, Ahmed Abubakar.
It was gathered that Abubakar submitted his letter of resignation to President Bola Tinubu, with one year to the end of his tenure.
Former President, Muhammadu Buhari, had appointed Abubakar NIA DG in 2018. He reappointed Abubakar in December 2021.
When President Tinubu assumed office, he retained Abubakar, like he did the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who has the same history of appointment as NIA DG.
