The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has expressed strong support for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, praising him for upholding democratic values and safeguarding the will of the people.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, and signed by the National Coordinator, Comrade Israel Uwejeyanb, the NDYC commended Governor Fubara’s leadership as a testament to justice, transparency, and accountability—principles essential for the growth and development of society.
“The Congress extends its unwavering support to Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his exemplary and steadfast commitment to upholding democratic values, safeguarding the will of the people, and standing as a beacon of hope and integrity in the face of attempts to undermine the sanctity of democracy in our beloved state,” the statement read.
The NDYC also criticized recent comments made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, which they believe could incite political turmoil in states governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and potentially destabilize the nation’s political harmony.
“We commend the PDP Governors Forum for their unflinching and resolute support for Governor Fubara in this struggle to uphold democracy and protect the sovereignty of the people’s mandate,” the statement added.
The NDYC called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action by cautioning Minister Wike against making statements or engaging in actions that could escalate tensions and incite violence across the nation.
“We urge all stakeholders, political leaders, and the general public to rally behind Governor Fubara and resist any attempts to subvert the will of the people,” the statement concluded.
The NDYC reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for good governance, the rule of law, and the protection of democratic institutions in Nigeria.
